Rimba’s Search for Safety and Truth

 Under the Cloak of Secrecy

Rimba felt like a traitor in her own home as she straightened her hijab, terrified that her father would discover the secret she was hiding: a growing desire to follow Jesus.

Fear consumed Rimba as she grappled with an undeniable truth in her heart. While she forced herself to join her family for morning prayers, the rituals no longer felt comforting or right. She knew others in her community who had suffered greatly for questioning their traditions, and she lived with the constant dread of her family discovering her secret.

"I wear a Hijab and live with my family," Rimba shared. "I would like to receive Jesus, but my family is here and could kill me if I accept Him."

A Hidden Search for Answers

Certain that there was more than the emptiness she felt surrounding her religion, Rimba quietly hid in her room to search the Internet. Her digital search led her to Global Media Outreach, where she connected with an Online Missionary named June.

Through their interactions, Rimba began learning from the Scriptures and devotionals June sent. For the first time, she heard the message that Jesus loved her so much He died for her sins. However, the spiritual tug-of-war left her feeling distressed.

"No, No. You torture me," Rimba told June. "I keep thinking of Jesus, and I don’t like it."

A Bright Invitation

June continued to message Rimba, offering reassurance, sending Scripture, and praying for her protection. Weeks later, Rimba messaged June to describe a vivid dream in which Jesus appeared to her in a white robe. She explained that His face was so bright she could not see it.

Despite her desperate desire to trust Jesus as her Savior, the threat of physical harm kept her from taking the final step. June assured her of their friendship and promised to keep praying for her heart and her safety.

The Path Forward

Today, June and Rimba are still messaging back and forth. June continues to disciple Rimba through the Internet, walking beside her as she moves closer to Christ. This process of relationship and sharing allows seekers like Rimba to understand the Gospel at their own pace, even in the most dangerous environments.

"See, Jesus invites you to come to Him," June encouraged her. "I am going to keep praying for you."

The Exponential Impact

Rimba’s story is a living example of how technology penetrates the hardest-to-reach cultures.
