Ryan’s Return to the Savior
Running Out of Hope
After three years of spiritual darkness and isolation, a single word on a smartphone screen led a Chinese father back to the hope of Jesus.
As a husband and father in China, Ryan faced immense pressure to meet the expectations of his family and society. Though he had once been on fire for God, the noise of daily life and a growing void in his heart led him down a path of spiritual drift. For three years, bitterness and discouragement overwhelmed his thoughts, leaving him isolated and weary.
"It’s almost 3 years that I stopped reaching for God," Ryan recalled. "I became so weak due to many challenges in life. And it wasn’t really easy."
A Digital Lifeline in the Darkness
Ryan reached a point of absolute desperation where his career and family could no longer mask his inner turmoil. In a moment of intense loneliness and grief, he turned to his smartphone for answers.
"I felt so alone, crying and grieving. There was no one to talk to and ask help," Ryan shared. "And then with the phone in my hand, there was an ad that popped up into my screen and I saw the word “God.” That’s how it led me to your site. Right away I wrote a prayer to God."
Safe Connection Across the Miles
Within a few hours of submitting his prayer request, Ryan was connected with an Online Missionary named Jordan. The digital connection allowed Ryan to bypass his shame. Safely talking to a fellow believer thousands of miles away gave him the freedom to open up about the regrets that had hindered his relationship with Jesus.
"I was in the darkness and tired of my life until this new year," Ryan explained. "Everything was so hard: family, relationships, jobs, being away from my home and kids. But there was still part of me saying ‘Get up! Don’t give up!’ My soul was restless."
A Living Testimony
Through Jordan’s support and consistent emails sharing the Word of God, Ryan experienced a genuine transformation. While there is no promise that his earthly trials will disappear, his life is now anchored by the commandments written in the Bible. He has vowed to be a living testimony, and his friends have already noticed a shift in his character.
"I started already reaching out to God again…Some of my friends noticed my temper had changed," Ryan told Jordan.
"Thank you so much for supporting me by sending the Word of God through email… I have a bright hope again and I have this feeling of excitement with this journey with Jesus Christ again. I am looking forward [to] helping some of my friends too that need God in their lives."
