Yipsi's Path to God

From Empty Religion to a Forever Family

After leaving her homeland and facing the isolation of a global pandemic, a young woman's desperate online search led her to a digital mentor—and the spiritual family she had always craved.

Growing up in Venezuela, Yipsi had a beautiful childhood. She had loving parents who took her to church and tried to help her form a relationship with Christ.

But going through the motions wasn't enough.

"I was listening to the words of the priest, but I had no genuine relational connection with anyone," Yipsi recalled. "If I looked at what I believed, there was nothing there beyond words, and I wasn't fulfilled."

She was surrounded by religion. But she was entirely alone.

"I had no purpose, and I felt empty."

Isolated in a New Land

Knowing she needed more, Yipsi began studying the Bible closely, realizing that Jesus was the only one who could fill the void. But just as her hunger for truth began to grow, her world was upended.

She moved from Venezuela to Peru. Then, the pandemic hit.

"The churches closed down, and I felt so isolated and alone in my faith," she shared.

Desperate for a lifeline, Yipsi turned to the Internet. She searched for the Word, hoping to find something to help her grow. That’s when she found a Facebook page for one of our online ministries. The title immediately caught her attention: El Camino Hacia Dios—The Path to God.

"That was what I was looking for, so I contacted them and started emailing with Pastor Reuben," Yipsi said.

A Spiritual Advisor

Pastor Reuben, an Online Missionary, met Yipsi right in the middle of her instability.

"Yipsi was in a transition in her life and she felt unstable," Pastor Reuben explained. "She was looking for something to cling to that would give her security and help her."

He began sending her daily devotionals, praying for her, and sharing the Word. Through the screen, he became her spiritual advisor, encouraging her when she had no one else.

"I read those messages with so much joy," Yipsi said.

Strangers Become Family

Reuben didn't just want Yipsi to have virtual support; he guided her toward a physical community. When she finally walked through the doors of a local church, her life changed completely.

"The church I connected to welcomed me as if they had known me for years, with joy and acceptance," Yipsi shared. "It went beyond virtual support. People received me, hugged me, asked, 'Sister, how are you?' And that is what I have finally found."

As Pastor Reuben noted, the Gospel transcends digital barriers.

"Through the Gospel, strangers become family, and what was nothing becomes very significant," he said. "We become brothers and sisters in Christ. Regardless of where we are in the world, there is something wonderful that happens."

The Exponential Impact

Today, Yipsi is no longer an isolated seeker going through the motions. She is an active member of her church's women's prayer ministry, using her own journey to make sure others feel loved and welcomed.

"Global Media Outreach has been a gift," Yipsi declared.
